Ambassador Patrick Nickolas Theros is a highly esteemed former U.S. Ambassador who has dedicated his life to foreign policy and diplomacy. Currently, he manages Theros & Theros, LLP, a boutique consulting firm which advises clients in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. He is also Strategic Advisor for the Gulf International Forum, a D.C. think tank that aims to facilitate an unbiased discussion of issues pertaining to the Gulf Region.

Ambassador Theros joined the U.S. Foreign Service in 1963, where he served for 36 years. During this career, he served in Amman, Abu Dhabi, Damascus, Saudi Arabia, Nicaragua, and Lebanon! A few of the many positions he held were Deputy Chief of Mission and Political Officer in Amman, Economic and Commercial Counselor in Damascus, Director of Politico-Military Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, and Political Advisor to the Commander in Chief of U.S. Central Command. Also, Ambassador Theros served as Deputy Coordinator for Counterterrorism, and was responsible for the coordination of all U.S. Government counterterrorism activities outside the United States.

Ultimately, Ambassador Theros was appointed as Ambassador to the State of Qatar in 1995, a position he held for three years. After this, he was President of the US-Qatar Business Council from 2000 to 2017!

During his career, Ambassador Theros earned four Superior Honor Awards. In 1990, he was accorded the personal rank of Minister Counselor. In 1992, he received the President’s Meritorious Service Award for career officials and the Secretary of Defense Medal for Meritorious Civilian Service. The Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem honored Ambassador Theros with the honor of Knight Commander Order of the Holy Sepulcher. In 1999, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifah Al-Thani awarded Ambassador Theros Qatar’s Order of Merit. Ambassador Theros is an incredibly knowledgeable and influential diplomat, and his work in foreign diplomacy is truly awe-inspiring!
