Project Description: Mr. Elgindy’s research intern will conduct research on issues related to internal Palestinian dynamics, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and American-Palestinian relations. This will include providing administrative, research, and other support for the Program Director, including any of the following:
• Locating and/or obtaining research materials, including articles, books, hyperlinks, audio/video content, etc.
• Maintaining a chronology of major events/developments related to Palestine, Israel, and US-Palestinian relations and keeping it up-to-date.
• Working with the Program Director and MEI program staff to prepare for public and private events (whether live or virtual).
• Reviewing Arabic-language media and other content on a regular basis.
• Drafting correspondence with outside scholars/experts, organizations, and institutions.
Special Skills: Proficiency (or fluency) in Arabic strongly preferred. Knowledge of Hebrew also preferred but not essential. Candidates must have a solid background in research and an interest in Middle Eastern affairs, particularly on Palestine/Israel.

Internship at Oman Library

Description: MEI's Oman Library is home to over 20,000 books and rare books, and is a valued resource for faculty and researchers on a wide range of topics relating to the Middle East. The Librarian seeks an intern to assist with all matters related to the re-establishment of the library, including organization of materials, shelf-reading, shifting, and identification of materials needing repair. There may also be opportunities for cataloging of materials that have been donated or acquired by the library but not yet processed. The intern will work on all library-related matters including setting up display cases, re-shelving items, circulation tasks, answering questions from library patrons, social media posts, and reference guides as necessary. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a major collection development project at a special library.
Responsibilities: Help sort and price materials in preparation for book sale; work on “Collection Spotlight” posts on Website; help with processing materials to be included in the collection; perform routine library tasks including providing directional assistance, shelf-reading project, shifting materials as needed, re-shelving books used by researchers, checking-out library materials.
Requirements: A positive attitude; ability to multitask and perform physical labor such as shifting entire shelves of books, and moving and lifting heavy items; familiarity and interest in the Middle East; dedication to user service and basic principles of library science
Desired Qualifications: Cataloging experience, a thorough understanding of RDA; Arabic language proficiency, reading and writing; familiarity with regional literature and publications.

Responsibilities:
- Assists sales professionals with research, presentation design work and identifying potential clients.
- Organizes the preparation and production of customized, client specific property information packages in response to Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
- Gathers, prepares and distributes marketing materials.
- Compiles property data for clients, such as tenant surveys, summary reports, maps, status updates and presentations for listing or tenant representative assignments.
- Gathers and coordinates materials necessary for transactions such as listing agreements, commission agreements, leases, and sales agreements.
- Reviews marketing material specifications and works with centralized marketing, analysis and research groups to coordinate the completion and submission of financial, marketing and various client specific property data to incorporate into customized property information packages.

Introduction:
The Gulf International Forum (GIF) Leadership Program targets young professionals, recent graduates, and college seniors to enhance their knowledge and research skills about the Gulf region. We founded this program with aims to achieve part of our mission through promoting independent thinking and building awareness of the Gulf. We are an institute that strives to improve understanding of the Gulf region and contribute to the accumulation of knowledge on the Gulf. Therefore, we believe in the importance of connecting with young professionals and students who seek to be involved and informed about the changing status, new challenges and evolving US interests in this region. The Leadership Program is designed to train and encourage students and academic cadres to increase scholarship and research on the Gulf region.
We aim to make this internship experience an important step in preparing future researchers who are interested in Gulf region studies. Our staff will accompany interns to different events meant to help participants develop their knowledge and skills, as well as make meaningful professional connections with scholars who will mentor them in their area of Gulf studies.
Participants in this program are expected to spend an academic semester with GIF in a part-time role. Training schedules and the tasks of interns are intimately related to each component of research, publication, and event coordination. Through this program, we aim to build a network of students and academic professionals who have an interest in leaving their mark on Gulf region studies while promoting GIF’s values and mission.

The internship will provide a training opportunity to advance interns skills in pre-event preparations and post-event documentation. Specific training experiences may include, but are not limited to:
- Learn how to prepare all event-related tasks, which includes -but not limited to- printouts, venue logistics before and during the event day, taking photos and check-in participants.
- Learn how to promote GIF’s events and activities and editing for all events related materials.
- Learn skills of managing GIF social media accounts according to GIF standards for social media and information dissemination.

- Learn home editing skills, developing, and producing print and electronic promotional/informational material for the institute, including, but not limited to the website, press releases, newsletters, reports and other publications.

Fall 2021 Virtual Policy Intern Position at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
About:
The Department of Housing and Urban Development administers programs that provide housing and community development assistance.
Responsibilities:
Get a first-hand look at how federal policy is shaped and developed in the US Government. Gain legislative research and writing experience. The intern will typically perform legal research and policy analysis at Real Estate Assessment Center, Office of Public and Indian Housing. The intern will obtain excellent experience in the review, analysis and discussion of legal issues arising inspection protocols for HUD assisted housing. The internship will be during the Fall 2021 period, starting from September 1 to December 1, and unpaid. 15-20 hours of weekly work is expected. College credit may be facilitated.
Qualifications:

Al-Shabaka
Research/ Editorial Internship

Al-Shabaka: The Palestinian Policy Network is seeking a part-time intern for summer 2021. The intern will be housed in Al-Shabaka's editorial department, and responsibilities will vary according to their particular skill set. Assigned tasks may include: background research for publications, fact-checking, editing, op-ed composition, and the production of original analysis.
The internship will run from June-August and require a commitment of 10-20 hours per week. Compensation for this short-term internship is an $800 honorarium, as well as credit within final products as appropriate. We also offer flexible work hours and are happy to coordinate with colleges and universities that may wish to provide academic credit.
Please note that this is a remote-based position; coordination and communication with Al-Shabaka staff will take place primarily through telecommunication platforms, requiring the researcher to have a personal computer and a high-speed internet connection.

KARAMAH seeks undergraduate and/or graduate student interns for the fall, spring and summer semesters. Internship positions are unpaid; however, students may earn credit hours from their respective schools or seek fellowships to fund their work with KARAMAH. College students who are available to volunteer 12 to 15 hours or more per week during the academic year, or a minimum of 30 hours during the summer, are eligible to apply. Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis. This internship will be totally virtual. Our internship program is designed to give interns full access to the academic, creative, and administrative operations at KARAMAH. Interns will have the opportunity to be involved in every department of our organization, gaining valuable experience and skills in program development and execution, research development, communications, women’s rights, civil rights, and operations of a non-profit.
Intern Duties and Responsibilities:
KARAMAH collects, disseminates, applies, and produces scholarship and research on Islamic jurisprudence. Interns will have opportunities to see examples of the practical application of Islamic jurisprudence, assist with research, write web articles, and current event reports. Interns may also assist in planning and executing educational programs, including topics, creating program documents and handouts, advertising, digital and video media work, and program administration. Promotion of these events is extremely important, and interns may be asked to aide in the managing the website, media, social media outreach, events, and the development of marketing materials and presentations. KARAMAH interns will also attend and prepare materials for international delegations, attend networking events, and have opportunities to plan and attend lectures by distinguished scholars and leaders. This is an ideal opportunity for a mature undergraduate or graduate student to gain meaningful experience at a DC-based NGO as well as exposure to the fields of Women’s rights, Civil Rights, Islamic law, and leadership development.

Our internship program runs year-round during the Spring, Summer and Fall semesters. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, we have also offered a virtual program, in addition to our traditional in-person experience.

What Other Opportunities Do Our RAs Have?
In addition to working on actual client work, our RAs get to experience brown bag educational sessions with industry speakers; in-person and virtual field trips to uniquelocations around D.C. (including NPR, PBS, and the Metropolitan Club); regular check-ins with their supervisor; and workshop sessions for how to effectively craft a resume and make useof LinkedIn and other programs. Lastly, we also look to hire graduates of our RA program, and count several RA program alumni as current members of the kglobal staff.

The Partnership for Transparency Fund (PTF) is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC. PTF’s mission is to advance innovative citizen-led approaches to improve governance, increase transparency, promote the rule of law and encourage citizen engagement in developing countries.
PTF’s internship program is designed to provide students and recent graduates with opportunities to take on independent projects of interest under the guidance of highly experienced international development professionals.
The Operations and Communications Intern will work directly with the Program Manager and Communications Manager on the daily maintenance of PTF initiatives, while also helping to implement exciting new projects. By doing so they will acquire a broad background in non‐profit operations and will participate in special projects with Advisers and Staff.
