Program & Objectives
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Office of Recruitment and Retention Programs (ORRP) shall have complete oversight of the DHA-RAI Program. The BLM ORRP shall host project-based internships that shall be a minimum of eleven weeks of continuous full-time (40 hours per week) service. The internships are an opportunity to bring new and diverse viewpoints to the Bureau while working on specific projects targeted for attracting, recruiting, and filling mission critical and hard-to-fill occupations.
As outlined in PB No. 12-15, for DHA-RAI eligibility, the eleven-week internship must be completed during the summer. For the purpose of this statement of work, the BLM defines “summer” as the months of May, June, July, August and September. Therefore, a DHA-RAI summer internships begin on or after May 1st and end on or by September 30th of the same year. Eligibility for the DHA-RAI Certificate of Completion also requires that the intern must complete a rigorous summer internship.
Upon successful completion of the 11-week internship and completion of the student’s degree, the interns placed by ABPA may be hired by BLM through the Direct Hire Authority (DHA). This allows eligible individuals to be hired into federal jobs on a non-competitive basis and thus, leading to full-time employment in US government agencies.
Eligibility for BLM internships require a U.S. Citizenship or to be a Green Card Holder.
