ABBAS DAHOUK

Colonel (Ret.) Abbas Dahouk is a retired veteran who has dedicated his life to serving the United States of America. He served in the U.S. Army for 33 years as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne division.

Col. Dahouk served in multiple staff officer assignments throughout the Middle East in both combat and peace circumstances. In addition to his experience abroad, he has worked as the Senior Military Advisor for the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, the Defense and Army Attaché to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Associate Professor of Arabic and Persian-Farsi at the U.S. Military Academy of West Point. Currently, Col. Dahouk is President of HyphenPoint LLC and Vice President of Middle East Programs at Advanced Technology Systems Company in McLean, VA!

Col. Dahouk was born and raised in Baakline, Lebanon. Upon completion of high school at 17, he joined the Popular Liberation Army and went through military training in the former Soviet Union. Frustrated by the cruelty of the Civil War in Lebanon, he went to the U.S. seeking higher education. He enlisted in the U.S. Army as an Airborne Cavalry Scout and was commissioned as an Artillery Officer in 1990 through the Officer Candidate School (OCS) of Fort Benning GA. Col. Dahouk was later inducted into the OCS Hall of Fame Class of 2019!

Col. Dahouk holds bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics and Near Eastern Studies. He also holds a BA in Military Science from the Sultanate of Oman Joint Command and Staff College. In addition, Col. Dahouk has two Master’s degrees: an MA in Strategic Studies from the Army War College and an MA in Near Eastern Studies from Princeton University!

Co. Dahouk’s many awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit Medal, the King Salam of Saudi Arabia Military Appreciation Medal-First Class, the Global War on Terrorism Medal – Expeditionary and Service, the South West Asia Medal (2 BS), two Kuwait Liberation Medals (one from Saudi Arabia and the other from Kuwait), the Multinational Forces and Observers Medal, the German Sportsman Badge, the Master Parachutist Badge, and the Ranger Tab. Col. Dahouk is an extremely accomplished individual, and we are incredibly proud to have him on ABPA’s board of advisors!
